I am Rakiyah Simone, otherwise, simply known as Kai.

I enjoy long conversations on the phone, cooking delicious food, laughing at corny jokes, and faithfully representing the west coast while living in Atlanta.

For all my life, I’ve had a love for three things: words, people, and God. Having been somewhat quiet most of the time, I’ve had ample opportunity to develop my superpower of being very observant. My greatest discovery yet is seeing just how interwoven God is in everything we do. As an aspiring writer, I really enjoy spending time making those connections, telling people about them, while describing and envisioning an ever-unfolding narrative.

Professionally, I’ve always had an interest in people, their thoughts, and improving their quality of life. And so, while I am a Public Health Practitioner, a Certified Health Education Specialist, and published academic, it’s important for me that you know that I am not a pastor, nor do I have a counseling degree (maybe one day)! I have no desire to prescribe to you the steps for a perfect life because I don’t have one. Instead, I simply aspire to encourage you through my writing, to inspire you as a believer, and to connect with you as a normal 20-something-year-old person with a sometimes unique perspective on topics you care about.

The purpose of this platform is very special to me. I get to write to you all through the beautiful lens of yet another person that God saved, and continues to save every day – through brokenness, setbacks, moments of grace, and the realities of triumph – I am simply here to help tell the stories of What is Written in and throughout our lives, and I am so glad that you have taken the time to be here with me.
